THE STRUGGLE
Sheila's third album (1985) after leaving Monsoon. Dan Hochman (Los Angeles Times music critic) put The Struggle in his Top 10 albums of the year. The album reveals Sheila's compelling voice and rag- based vocal ornimentations over mainly up tempo tracks. An evocative fusion of traditional and innovation, it features two Vedic chants. One of them ('Om Shanti Om') with a gentle blues guitar accompaniment behind Sheila's chanting multi-tracked vocals.
"The themes of The Struggle reflect a period in my life where I was grappling with the perception of what I was supposed to be as defined by the media and public."
